Our standards
How we vet every Houston pro
Before a single lead reaches a partner contractor, they pass the checks below — and the checks repeat every quarter. This page is the standard we hold ourselves to, in writing.
What we verify before a pro gets a single lead
Active Texas license
Checked against the state licensing database — not the contractor's website. We record the license number and the date we verified it.
Current insurance certificate
General liability coverage confirmed directly from the certificate, with the expiry date on file.
References & work history
Recent Houston projects and homeowner references reviewed before listing any service.
Real Houston footprint
The pro genuinely serves the neighborhoods we list — no phantom coverage areas.
Callback commitment
A response-time standard the pro has agreed to in writing — we only promise what they've committed to.
Quarterly re-verification
Licenses lapse and insurance expires. Every check on this page is repeated every quarter, and pros who fall out of compliance are unlisted.
The license we check, by trade
Different trades are regulated by different Texas agencies. A general "licensed & insured" badge tells you nothing — this is what we actually look up.
| Trade | Regulator | License we verify | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electricians | Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR) | Electrical contractor license (TECL) plus the master electrician of record | Verified for all listed pros |
| Plumbers | Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE) | Responsible Master Plumber (RMP) registration | Verified for all listed pros |
| Security & cameras | Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Private Security Program | Company license and installer registration — Texas regulates recorded video systems as alarm-system work | Not offered until verified |
Security work is the reason this page exists: it needs a different license than electrical work, and we won't list camera or alarm installation until a partner's DPS credentials pass verification.
How we make money
Houston Service Hub is a referral service, not a contractor. If you hire a pro we match you with, that pro may pay us a referral fee. The fee never increases your quoted price — you pay the contractor directly, and their quote is the same one any walk-in customer would get.
No upfront fees. No charge to request a quote. No obligation to hire the pro who calls you back.
What we never do
- Claim to be the licensed contractor, installer, or warrantor — the work is always performed by the independent licensed pro.
- Publish a license, certification, or dealer credential we haven't independently verified against the issuing body.
- Sell your request to a list of companies. One request goes to one matched pro.
- Publish reviews, photos, or project claims we can't trace to a real, permissioned project.
